What are boxing & kickboxing exactly?
Let’s start with boxing: also called the noble art of self-defense and western boxing, this discipline can be traced all the way back to ancient Greece! Boxing is a combat sport in which you are only allowed to use your hands. To become proficient at boxing you need a tremendous amount of training and focus. Since you only use your hands, the level of technique needs to be very high. Movement and speed are also important aspects in the sport of boxing.
Let’s move on to kickboxing: the difference between the two may be obvious, with the latter you are also allowed to use your hands and knees (with Thai boxing you can also use your elbows). The Netherlands is very famous for its kickboxers, stars like Badr Hari, Alistair Overeem and Ramon Dekkers fought all over the world and made this country famous for their fighters.
